Friday Fun: Fact/Fiction

(You want to know more about this here blogger? Fine. Warning: This may or may not be true)

In the spirit of experimentational research, and in the interests of expanding the boundaries of culinary knowledge, I once decided to see what a mixture of all the possible dairy/egg-based byproducts (that I could lay my hands on) would taste like.

To this end, I prepared - and ate - a sandwich with a filling of butter, soft-cheese spread, thick cream (proper malai), mayonnaise, and condensed milk*.

It was....interesting.

* Condensed milk on toast....mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Oh, weird combinations are a must if someone likes food. Hmm...maybe I should ask people to share theirs.

Either way, your friend's combination is quite unique, to say the least. Did it taste any good?

Nonono, if that isnt the weirdest food combination you've eaten, please let's hear more from you... never mind us!

I dont do weird food. Everything I eat is perfectly logical to me :)

My cousin likes to have his food fast, so he mixes everything on his plate into one big mess and gobbles it down. even if it's curd rice and biryani :P

mushroom, corn and blueberry spread on toast

I used the same knife between a mushroom, mashed potato and white sauce crepe, and one with castor sugar and molasses. Alternating between the two crepes, without wiping the knife. Needless to say, it was disgusting.

Grilled cheese sandwich with Maggi tomato pudina sauce is all I can think of. I guess that is weird enough for me :)

all:
Muy interesting combinations. Thankee for sharing.

Lekhni:
I must admit that's not very weird (for me). But then, you seem sensible. Just like Shyam.

the saint:
Turn that into a pie-filling, and you'd have a Michelin star.

DD:
Umm...but you do get raita with biryani anyways no?

anki:
Ketchup-with-rice is yum!

.:
Heh...nice nick. Welcome. Now that is an interesting twist.

spark:
Never tried that, but I might. Someday.

green apple with tabasco. won me ten bucks, and quite a discovery to boot. also red wine with a drop of pudin hara, to ring in new year 1998.

apparently rice with jam is a popular dessert in poland.

DD:
Ahh, my mistake - I missed the 'rice' bit in curd-rice. Yes, that is a bit off. And funnily enough, my weirdest combination also has to do with curd-rice.

lekhni:
You know what's really yum? Rice with mince-meat (or alternative meat-free mince) and ketchup. Ohhhh yes!

TR:
I have a feeling that green apple and tabasco would be an awesome cocktail flavour!

you're right. this was before i'd discovered white spirits.

Dear ??!,

My favourite (odd, by others' accounts) food combination is:

paratha (aloo or gobi or pyaaz)
some malai
some Kissan Mixed Fruit Jam (only Kissan will do)

Thanks,
Regards,

Puppy Manohar

Puppy:
I don't know about the paratha, but malai-and-jam is an old favourite. Also, malai-jam-&-banana. Or malai-and-banana. Very fattening, apparently. Not that I would know.
